# Facilitators

> Production facilitator services for x402 payments.

[Facilitators](/core-concepts/facilitator) verify and settle x402 payments on behalf of resource servers.
Anyone can run a facilitator. You can [run your own](/core-concepts/network-and-token-support#running-your-own-facilitator) or [self-facilitate](https://github.com/x402-foundation/x402/tree/main/examples/typescript/servers/self-facilitation).
The table below lists selected production options; it is not an exhaustive catalog.

## Which option should I use?

Use this as a quick operator guide:

* **Public testnet / quickstart:** use the `x402.org` facilitator
* **Managed production mainnet:** use a production facilitator provider that supports your target network
* **Full control:** run your own facilitator or self-facilitate in-process

If you are evaluating a mainnet EVM route, decide on your production facilitator path up front. The public `x402.org` facilitator is convenient for development, but it is not intended to be the default production choice for mainnet routes.

For testnet development, the [x402.org facilitator](/core-concepts/network-and-token-support#x402org-facilitator) requires no setup. It is not intended for mainnet routes; use a production facilitator, a self-hosted facilitator, or [self-facilitation](https://github.com/x402-foundation/x402/tree/main/examples/typescript/servers/self-facilitation) for production networks.
